To reduce rain noise on metal roofing, an insulation blanket can be placed over the foil laminate described above, before laying the roofing. It is important that the laminate is pulled tight enough to hold the blanket hard against the underside of the roofing to dampen the rain-induced vibration at the point of impact. If the blanket is not hard against the roofing the noise reduction will not be as good.
For purlin spacings over 1200mm: first lay wire mesh over the purlins, tighten and fix it, before laying the membrane.
