Since its successful introduction in 2018, the Lysaght Inspirations Design Awards has celebrated outstanding Australian architectural and building design work that incorporates LYSAGHT® steel building products.
Now in 2020 Lysaght is again calling for entries from Australian based architects, building designers, and architectural or design students.
“The popularity of the Lysaght Inspirations Design Awards program has grown each year since its inception and has enabled us to identify and recognise some amazing building design projects featuring LYSAGHT® steel products,“ said Matt Lloyde, Lysaght’s National Sales, Marketing and Innovation Manager.
“We recognise that 2020 has been a tough year for many people in our industry, however we were keen to ensure that we continued to provide an opportunity for Australia’s talented architects and building designers to showcase their work.”
Nominations in the Awards will be evaluated by a panel of Lysaght technical and product design experts; and prizes will be given in four separate categories.
The four categories making up the 2020 Awards are:
• Commercial and Industrial Buildings: including offices, retail buildings, warehouses, educational buildings and institutions, factories, processing facilities and agricultural buildings.
• Residential Buildings: including houses, villas, apartments and aged care (and similar) facilities; also including Heritage and Restoration projects.
• Regional Projects: includes commercial, industrial and public buildings in regional areas.
• Student Design: open to all architectural or design students currently enrolled at Australian universities, as well as recent graduates.
This year’s Awards carry a $10,000 cash prize for each of the three open awards categories and a $5,000 cash prize for the student category. All winning projects will feature in the 2021 edition of Lysaght’s annual ‘Design Inspiration’ publication and will also be celebrated through Lysaght’s social and other media communications.

The Lysaght Inspirations Design Awards are open to architects, building designers and building owners. Nominations must clearly display a significant proportion of LYSAGHT® steel building products and refer to projects completed between January 1, 2015, and June 30, 2020.
Entry period for the Awards opens on October 12, 2020 and close on November 8, 2020. Entries can only be submitted on the dedicated Awards website – www.lysaghtinspirations.com
